Scaling global labour: the Global Union Federations in Indonesia and India. This project will generate a systematic comparison and analysis of the activities of the Global Union Federations in construction, manufacturing and plantation agriculture, in India and Indonesia. Its findings will enhance our knowledge of industrial relations in both countries, and of labour internationalism.

This project investigates the role of employer-based qualifications training in developing the skills and prospects of the Australian workforce and the competitive capabilities of companies. It focuses on enterprises that are accredited to deliver qualifications to their own workers, providing data to improve and expand this form of training.
Rethinking higher education persistence. This project aims to address the issue of early departure from university. Many students leave higher education and disproportionate numbers are from educationally disadvantaged groups, including first-in-family learners. Too often, the individual learner is 'blamed' for this departure and perceived as deficit in necessary knowledge. The expanding disciplinary scope of research ethics committees: an inquiry into need and resistance. Do ethics committees have a bias toward quantitative and clinical research methods? Using a mixed methods approach, this project will systematically study whether ethics committees fail to understand and evaluate qualitative research methods; and whether some disciplines are more resistant to ethics review than others.

Neutral impact collision ion scattering spectroscopy and inverse photoemission spectroscopy measure concentration depth profiles and electronic structure. The depth resolution of the profiles is in the order of the distance between two neighbouring atoms in a solid or liquid and is the best currently achievable. What can teachers do to engage their students during this key life transition? This project plans to identify teacher behaviours that motivate students in their first year at secondary school. Using an experimental design with a representative sample of 150 teachers and 1500 students in low socioeconomic areas across three states, the project plans to test whether an online professional learning program for teachers can improve student engagement and achievement.
