Producing 3D video sequences from 2D input video. The project will develop new methods for extracting 3D information from existing films so that they may be used with 3D television monitors marketed by the industrial partner, Dynamic Digital Depth. The 3D representation will allow existing video material such as existing films, TV programs and news video to be viewed in 3D on a suitable 3D TV monitor. This will give a boost to the acceptance of 3D television and film as a preferred medium. Ex ....Producing 3D video sequences from 2D input video. Games and interactive entertainment are flagship digital industries of the present and future which no advanced economy and digitally enabled society can afford not to engage with. Apart from their evident popularity, and proven growth and export potential, they have provided many models and templates for educational technology. The project will assist the local games and interactive entertainment sector to source international good practice models, to identify potentially new sources of innovation, such as arts practices not traditionally associated with these industries, and contribute a richly detailed case study providing evidence for why the creative industries should be an integral part of the national innovation system.Read moreRead less

This project aims to design and implement new and better methods to find vulnerabilities in software services delivered over the web or through the cloud, as well as methods for proving the absence of certain types of vulnerability. So-called injection attacks are pervasive and generally considered the most important security threat on today's Internet. The programming languages used for software services tend to use strings as a universal data structure, which unfortunately makes it hard to separate trusted code from untrusted user-provided data. This project intends to develop novel program analysis tools and string constraint solvers, and employ these tools to support sophisticated automated reasoning about string manipulating software.Read moreRead less
Reducing the risks associated with developing large-scale, critical software-integrated systems. Industry, government and defence increasingly rely on large-scale, critical software-integrated systems. The scale and complexity of these systems means current methods of analysing, designing and assuring their dependability are struggling to provide the constructive support and assurance that is demanded. Consequently, there are significant risks of cost and schedule overruns and of system problems and failures. This project builds on results from our current collaboration - a new method for modelling, analysis and defect detection for the requirements of large-scale systems. We will develop and scale-up to industry strength, simpler, more powerful, strategies for analysing, designing and providing the high level of assurance required.Read moreRead less

This project will address the challenge to effectively target regional arts funding to programs and activities that build capacity and have lasting impact for end-users. It delivers a framework for evaluating the arts, to argue for the arts to be included in a broader understanding of community and national wellbeing and success. This framework will position Australia as an international leader in articulating and responding to the social impact of the arts. The research field sites have been chosen in consultation with our partners as communities whose capacity and challenges are reflected throughout much of regional Australia.Read moreRead less
