Social media influencers as conduits of knowledge in Australia and Asia. This project aims to evaluate how social media influencers can become conduits to communicate information among young people between Australia and East Asia. As icons on the internet who are experts in holding attention and amplifying content, influencers have expanded from being mere commercial enterprises to being conduits of public service information by reaching wide, diverse, and sometimes marginalised youth audiences ....Social media influencers as conduits of knowledge in Australia and Asia. This project aims to investigate how culturally and linguistically diverse young Australians experience discrimination in their daily lives because of how they speak.The project will generate new knowledge addressing the critical need to review the linguistic disparity experienced by bi/multilingual speakers. Major benefits are policy recommendations to improve health and welfare of the population.
Books before printing: discovering technologies and culture from manuscripts to e-Books. This project identifies textual technologies before printing and tracks book-culture from manuscripts to e-books producing a smarter model for technological change, recasting methods of inquiry and initiating new international collaborations. Outcomes will provide digital access to rare and valuable medieval books and two new book-length studies.
Perceptions of harm from adolescents accessing online sexual content. This project aims to investigate Australian adolescents’ responses to online sexual content through a comparative communication-based study with teens in Greece, Ireland and Norway. The project seeks to generate knowledge through in-depth interviews with Australian high school students, aged 12-17, and their parents, comparing their perceptions with children and parents from other countries.
