Refugee moral injury: Linking interpersonal trauma and social functioning. This project aims to understand how moral beliefs about past interpersonal traumatic experiences (e.g., torture, rape) are associated with social outcomes considered to be crucial in successful refugee resettlement. Does emotion regulation flexibility improve functioning in refugees? This project aims identify the mechanisms by which low-intensity interventions improve functioning in refugees living in low-and-middle income countries (LMICs). Despite these interventions being implemented with thousands of refugees worldwide, many refugees fail to respond. This project will lead to significant advances in knowledge regarding how and for whom low intensity interventions work. This project aims to implement and evaluate an attachment and trauma-based program for kinship carers, explore its suitability for cultural adaptation for Indigenous families and co-design practical resources to promote program sustainability and trauma-informed practice. Trauma and Unwanted Memories. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a potentially debilitating condition that affects survivors of trauma. Intrusive memories of the trauma is the key problem in people with PTSD. This project will attempt to understand intrusive memories and will clarify why these memories persist. Outcomes from this project will directly assist people with PTSD because it will enhance understanding of a key symptom that maintains the disorder.
The influence of parental alcohol expectancies on offsprings' alcohol expectancies and drinking: A longitudinal study. It has been shown that potentially modifiable alcohol related cognitions, such as alcohol expectancies (AE)and drinking refusal self-efficacy (DRSE) are formed in childhood are related to drinking in adolescents and adults. The question of how these beliefs are formed is still unanswered. The question of how these beliefs are formed is still unanswered. This longitudinal study examines the influences of parental alcohol-related beliefs and drinking, on children's alcohol-related beliefs and drinking behaviour. Positive results of this study will improve primary prevention by identifying and changing modifiable variables for populations potentially at-risk of developing later alcohol-related. It will also help to reduce cost and suffering of a major problem in Ausstralia.

This project aims to evaluate a theoretical model regarding the causal and maintaining role that cognitive biases play in obsessional thought. Obsessions are common in the general population and negatively impact health and daily functioning. Individuals struggle with their obsessions but are unable to disengage from them. There is a pressing need to understand the cognitive mechanisms that drive and maintain this disorder.
