Summary
It is difficult to accurately diagnose an individual with dementia especially at early stages of the disease. This project aims to see what markers in the brain differentiate those with and without subtypes of dementia and to see what clinical criteria best relate to these markers. It is hoped that results will improve clinical criteria for dementia and its subtypes, thus improving the diagnostic accuracy of dementia.
Fostering school attendance for students in Out-of-Home Care. This project aims to investigate why children and young people in Out-Of-Home-Care in Australia are absent from school far more than their peers. The project expects to generate new knowledge about the reasons for their absences and to develop solutions to improve attendance through: children’s own voices; detailed absence data; policy audit; and case studies of promising practice. The aim of this study is to develop strategies to prevent the steep drop in school attendance rates of First Nation students as they transition from primary to secondary school. The project expects to generate effective culturally embedded support strategies.
