Recalibrating culture: production, consumption, policy. Over the last decade the number of Australians engaging in paid or unpaid cultural activity increased by over 50 per cent. This project will address this major change in cultural production and consumption through a Greater Western Sydney case-study, thus developing an innovative cultural policy tailored to Australia's dynamic new cultural economy.

This project employs innovative research techniques in the fields of social research and educational inquiry to explore a research problem of major economic and cultural significance to Australia, that of the meaning and value of the arts in the lives of Australian children.

It breaks new ground in developing models for public galleries in programming, presenting and interpreting contemporary work. Popular music and cultural memory: Localised popular music histories and their significance for national music industries. This project provides a public space for audience members in local communities in Australia, Israel, the Netherlands, UK and USA to share their memories of local popular music heritage. By privileging these voices, the project has the potential to develop and strengthen community cohesion and also raise questions of how these voices might be incorporated into the production ....Popular music and cultural memory: Localised popular music histories and their significance for national music industries. This project provides a public space for audience members in local communities in Australia, Israel, the Netherlands, UK and USA to share their memories of local popular music heritage. Up to 5 million Australian Emergency patients per annum may benefit from research to be conducted by composers and musicians from the School of Art, RMIT University and medical practitioners and clinical health psychologists based in the Emergency Department at St. Vincent's Hospital - Melbourne. Researchers will investigate whether soundtracks and musical compositions developed for Emergency patients can lower levels of anxiety.
