The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Internal capital markets, divisional rent-seeking and optimal incentives: theory and evidence. There exists a considerable gap between real-world economic organizations and the economic theory of the firm. This project provides formal theories of resource allocation within multidivisional corporations and the nature of optimal incentives, thereby contributing to fill this gap. The project is expected to produce highest-quality research publishable in top-tier journals. This will, among others, enhance Australia's standing as a knowledge nation. Additional benefit comes from the possibility of longer term collaborative research between Monash University and the University of Bristol, and possible research collaboration between Australian and British economists that goes beyond the two institutions. Extending the scope of modular analysis for the validation of large systems. The increasing complexity of computer systems has severe implications for verification and validation, especially for critical systems (e.g. medical supervision, avionics mission systems). The standard approach is to build a formal model of the system and automatically analyse its behaviour. Such models can be captured in a modular, high-level description, but the number of states is usually so large as to preclude an ....Extending the scope of modular analysis for the validation of large systems. The increasing complexity of computer systems has severe implications for verification and validation, especially for critical systems (e.g. medical supervision, avionics mission systems). The standard approach is to build a formal model of the system and automatically analyse its behaviour. Such models can be captured in a modular, high-level description, but the number of states is usually so large as to preclude analysis. The modular analysis proposed in this project matches the analysis technique to the structure of the model. Preliminary results are promising and motivate the extension of the technique to a larger class of modular descriptions.Read moreRead less
Lifting the curse of dimensionality - bringing together the quasi Monte Carlo and sparse grid methods. This project is expected to lead to improved methods for handling high-dimensional problems (i.e. problems with many variables) that arise in finance, statistics, commerce, physics, and many other fields. In turn this could lead to significant economic benefit, especially to high-value service industries such as the finance industry. By strengthening international collaboration, it will also ....Lifting the curse of dimensionality - bringing together the quasi Monte Carlo and sparse grid methods. In turn this could lead to significant economic benefit, especially to high-value service industries such as the finance industry. By strengthening international collaboration, it will also help to maintain Australia's strong position in international research in the mathematical sciences.Read moreRead less
Economics, politics and culture in early post-independence Indonesia. Recent events in East Timor have highlighted the problems faced by new states after the initial honeymoon following independence is over. By examining the experience of Indonesia in the 1950s from the longer perspective of the 21st century, this project aims to better understand the significance of apparently simple but highly significant decisions made in the first years after decolonization and comparable major regime chang ....Economics, politics and culture in early post-independence Indonesia. Lie-type methods for totally disconnected groups. Groups are algebraic objects which convey symmetry, much as numbers convey size. For example, the rotations of a sphere form a group. This rotation group is one of a class known as the Lie groups that is well understood and has important applications. Totally disconnected groups arise as symmetries of network structures having nodes and a `neighbour' relation between nodes. The Australian investigator has discovered powerful methods for analysing ....Lie-type methods for totally disconnected groups. The Australian investigator has discovered powerful methods for analysing totally disconnected groups which have parallels with Lie group techniques. This project will develop these parallels and establish links with international researchers on Lie groups.Read moreRead less
Empire to Republic: Politics and Culture in China's 20th Century History. This research project focuses on state and nation building in South China during the Republican era (1912-1949), the subject of major international publications by the CI and PI over a fifteen-year research partnership. The significance of the topic lies in its historiographical departure from narratives of ?party history? to theoretically-driven research into key aspects of modern state and nation-making in a formative pe ....Empire to Republic: Politics and Culture in China's 20th Century History. This research project focuses on state and nation building in South China during the Republican era (1912-1949), the subject of major international publications by the CI and PI over a fifteen-year research partnership. The significance of the topic lies in its historiographical departure from narratives of ?party history? to theoretically-driven research into key aspects of modern state and nation-making in a formative period of China's recent history. Outcomes include research training and theses, and refereed publications, which break new ground in their systematic application of state-making literature to Republican Chinese history.Read moreRead less

The proposed research will significantly advance knowledge by creating new analytical and numerical methods for tackling complex nonlinear control problems arising in many applications. The study's outputs will lead to a deeper understanding of fundamental issues in mathematical modelling. Collaboration with renowned researchers will further improve Australia's standing in the international research community. Also their visits may further promote research both within and outside the host institution. In particular, lectures and seminars that they will deliver will be transmitted to Australian universities participating in the Access Grid Room Project.Read moreRead less
