This project, in partnership with aged care and disability agencies across two states, aims to examine ways the aged care, social and health needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities may be met in rural and urban settings. This project will design a wrist-worn pendant that represents the convergence of telecare (fall detection and personal alarm pendants) and telehealth (remote management of chronic disease). The system has the potential to be retro-fitted to 100,000s of telecare systems deployed by an industry partner and to herald a new form of low-cost patient monitoring.
