This project will generate knowledge about recent activism, social change and contemporary art practices in Italy; it will add to Australia's international reputation as a centre of research on contemporary Italy; it will assist in facilitating cultural relations between Australia and Italy as already established in cultural and scientific bilateral agreements.

The proposed SRI brings together research leaders from across 22 Universities and multiple disciplines including history, politics, anthropology, international relations, law, education and studies in culture, society, media, communications, migration, gender, regionalism, heritage, and Indigenous societies. ....Australia Research Network: Integrating and Value Adding Australian Research through Production, Enhancement and Communications Capacities, across the Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts. The proposed SRI brings together research leaders from across 22 Universities and multiple disciplines including history, politics, anthropology, international relations, law, education and studies in culture, society, media, communications, migration, gender, regionalism, heritage, and Indigenous societies. Outcomes include masterclasses and workshops aimed at training team members and mentoring graduate and postdoctoral researchers. Ethnicity and Assimilation in China: The Case of the Monguor in Tibet. China is currently addressing many issues associated with issues of minority cultural autonomy and ethnic differences. This project will explore the ongoing assimilation of the Monguor, an ethnic minority group in Tibet. It seeks to fill an important gap in our knowledge of ethnic tensions, autonomy and assimilation in contemporary China. Women and the rise of contact sport. This project aims to investigate the growing visibility of women in contact sports in Australia and the multiple forces that influence their participation. Expected outcomes of this project include the enhanced capacity of contact sports to include and support women's participation; it does this by engaging with policies and practices that work towards gender equality and long-term sustainability.
