Political history of the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Rights Act, 1983. The story of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (ALRA) that established the land councils, made provisions for land recovery and enterprises, and reshaped Aboriginal people's relationship with the state has not been told. Aboriginal Land Councils have become significant land holders - 81367 hectares valued at over $2billion and investment. Walking my path: NSW Indigenous LGBTIQ+ peoples' experiences & aspirations. There is little known about the experiences, needs and aspirations of Indigenous gender and/or sexuality diverse peoples in New South Wales. This means that government, corporate and community sectors lack information on how to secure their social, economic and cultural inclusion. In collaboration with local Aboriginal community controlled organisations, the project will create new knowledge about the key events and expe ....Walking my path: NSW Indigenous LGBTIQ+ peoples' experiences & aspirations. The project will strengthen the social and economic fabric of Indigenous communities and Australia as a whole by helping to improve the production and use of robust evidence and the engagement of Indigenous people themselves in Indigenous policy development. The project will include an analysis of case studies from other international jurisdictions (such as New Zealand and Canada). This project will conduct an in-depth analysis of the perspectives of established artists and emerging NSW Aboriginal women artists about the passion, power and politics of Aboriginal art and test the extent of collection bias of NSW artists' works. The fundamental question is how these organisations can both serve the needs of their local communities and meet broader accountability obligations expected of them. Summary
Indigenous societies, governance and wellbeing: a study of Indigenous community success in addressing disadvantage and promoting wellbeing. This is the first in-depth place-based Australian study of Indigenous community 'success' in overcoming disadvantage and promoting well being across all seven National Indigenous Reform Agreement (Closing the Gap) 'building blocks'. It will provide invaluable insights about the relationship between Indigenous governance and wellbeing in Australia.
Indigenous participation in a low-carbon economy. Australia’s transition towards a low-carbon economy will cause changes in skill requirements and raises the need to maximise Aboriginal participation. This innovative project will provide a better understanding of what is required for this to occur and showcase a new way of developing educational and training strategies for Indigenous engagement.

This project intends to examine how four regional centres navigate the socio-economic challenges of an increasing Indigenous disability population in a context of national reform. Across OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries, including Australia, disability income support policy has become central to national economic policy.
