Summary
Decision making in older people approaching the end of life. End of life care provides an ideal framework in which to explore the principle of individual autonomy and consumer decision making. Older people at a high risk of dying in 6 months will be recruited from acute care wards, and asked about preferences for involvement in end of life decision making in a standardised interview survey. Surrogate decision makers and physicians will be asked to answer the same questions from the patient's per ....Decision making in older people approaching the end of life. Developments in biomedical HIV prevention can prevent infections but may also change sexual norms and the sexual marketplace for male sex workers and their clients. A framework to promote safer practice in commercial sex encounters. The project will address public health needs by producing a framework to promote safer sex practices in commercial sexual encounters involving men, by considering the motivation and practice of those involved. It will also enhance our understanding of masculinity.

Lived experiences of treatment for hepatitis C in Australia. This project aims to support uptake of new hepatitis C treatments. With the introduction of new treatments in 2016, the Australian Government adopted the WHO’s goal of eliminating the disease by 2030. While early treatment rates were high, they have since plateaued, with stigma and poor information considered key obstacles. Drawing on innovative methods and socio-cultural theory, and working in partnership with families and communities, this project aims to generate new knowledge to better inform and imp ....The Social Life of Death. Weight stigma in the preconception, pregnancy and postpartum periods. The overall aim of this project is to develop guidance for the translation of weight stigma evidence into preconception, pregnancy and postpartum obesity-related policy. It focuses on the socio-ecological factors that perpetuate weight stigma in women across the reproductive life phase, that is, in women planning a pregnancy, in women who are pregnant and in mothers who have given birth within a 24-month period.

It is important for Promoting Better Health and Strengthening the Social and Economic Fabric that an accurate understanding is achieved of the factors that contribute to optimal recovery from natural disasters.
