The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

There is an urgent need to address the differentials in health outcomes for Indigenous populations through a variety of programs addressing access to cancer care. An important part of any health program is measurement of health outcomes. This proposed research will develop and evaluate culturally sensitive needs assessment tools to ensure that the future of service provision is targeted to meet the priority needs of Indigenous cancer patients. Armed with an appropriate understanding of Indigenous peoples needs and how to assess these, care provision will be able to improve and maintain good health and also ensure that resource allocation is provided with considered economic, social and community benefits. The annual direct cost of treatment of injuries is estimated to be $2.6 billion across health sectors and $1.6 billion for hospitals alone. Quality data on the circumstances surrounding hospitalised injuries are vital for determining injury risk factors, allocating resources appropriately, and evaluating injury prevention strategies. This research firstly assesses the specificity of coded data for external causes of injury and identifies the reasons for a lack of quality in coded data. Based on these findings, a targeted educational program will be implemented for clinicians, coders, and injury researchers, to ultimately enhance the quality of national injury-related hospital morbidity data.Read moreRead less

This research will be internationally leading and place Australia at the forefront of research into organisational change in health care. Developing innovative health care organisational structures, such as clinical networks, has the potential to improve the effectiveness of health care and to reduce costs. Benefits for the community will flow from this project through informed decision making about the best ways to bring about organisational change in health care. The results of this study will have immediate application to the organisational strategies of the Greater Metropolitan Clinical Taskforce and other national government health care agencies that implement organisational change through clinical networks. The aim of this project is to develop new quantitative techniques based on mathematical and statistical modelling that improve the outcomes of health care in hospitals. Hospital outcomes for patients are sub-optimal due to adverse events such as hospital acquired infections and fully stretched facilities. Research from this project will lead to resource usage being optimised using operations research; the transmission of hospital acquired infections being better understood using mathematical models; and better monitoring of adverse events and analyses of studies using statistical tools. Opportunities will be provided for hospital staff to acquire knowledge of the significance of these outcomes .Read moreRead less
