This project aims to effect change by implementing and evaluating an innovative, grass-roots, whole-school approach to bullying through the normal curriculum which empowers teachers and students to address bullying pro-actively. The proposed use of action research places the responsibility for confronting bullying in the hands of the school community. The study aims to discover 3-13 yr old children's understandings, perceptions & experiences of physical activity & associated places & spaces. Childhood obesity is a modern 'epidemic' & governments agree that low physical activity levels contribute significantly. Diversity and Discipline: The Impact of Punishment on Indigenous Students' Attitudes Toward Schooling. The research will focus on punishment as an organising principle of schools and from empirical research, will construct a discourse within which discipline as power can be discussed. The research offers a new approach to investigations on the disciplinary practices of schools and challenges the concept of regimes of punishment as a necessary adjunct to learning. Enhancing the ability of schools to respond to students with diverse needs has been shown to reduce student disengagement and early leaving.
