High-resolution X-ray micro computed tomography supporting West Australian geo-, physical and biological science. An X-ray micro computed tomography facility will provide West Australian researchers with much needed access to cutting-edge instrumentation for high-resolution three-dimensional imaging. This facility will support major research programs in key disciplines, including minerals and mining, energy, medical and biological sciences.

This project aims to generate unique insights into the processes and history that produced the current distribution of modern humans and the bacteria we carry with us (our microbiome). The project will use combined signals of bacterial, genomic and climate data to reconstruct the impacts of migrations, changes in diet, environment, and health in different parts ....Using ancient microbiomes and genomes to reconstruct human history. Computational Design of Defect-Free Additive Manufactured Ceramic Structure. Despite its importance and potential, ceramic additive manufacturing (AM) is facing significant challenge for its inherent material characteristics prone to shrinkage and fracture during fabrication process. This project aims to fill a knowledge gap by developing a new computational design framework for a commonly-used indirect AM process. The patterns of fracture in teeth can be used to infer bite forces and dietary habits in human ancestors and other animals, yet the link between the fracture pattern and forces is not yet well understood. This project aims to develop an endogenous bone regenerative technique to repair the bony defects in congenital craniofacial clefts, through stimulating patients' latent self-repair mechanisms and reviving their innate capacity for regeneration. The novel technique would replace the existing and controversial surgical bone grafting method.
