Discovery Projects - Grant ID: DP120104759

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $330,000.00
    Summary
A complex systems approach to granular rheology: interconnecting topology, stability, dynamics and function. The response of granular materials (e.g. soil, rocks) to applied stresses and strains will be characterised in detail. Information mined from experimental and simulation tests will be used to develop robust predictive models of granular behaviour, crucial for effective earthquake mitigation as well as greener mining and construction technologies.

Discovery Projects - Grant ID: DP130100130

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $384,709.00
    Summary
Unravelling the geodynamics of eastern Australia during the Permian: the link between plate boundary bending and basin formation. Using paleomagnetic and sedimentological investigations, this project will unravel the Permian tectonic history of eastern Australia, which has hitherto remained poorly understood. The reconstruction will provide a crucial component in our attempt to model the evolution of the Australian continent and its associated natural resources.

Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment And Facilities - Grant ID: LE110100189

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $190,000.00
    Summary
Integrated magnetic resonance gas and oil analyser. Magnetic resonance has enormous potential in a range of industrial applications. This facility will develop these capabilities and contribute unique insights into liquid and gas transport in systems ranging from rock cores to reverse osmosis membranes used in desalination.
