2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. Self-assembly and complexity: networks and patterns from materials to markets. Self-assembly leads the formation of patterns without external directing agents. It is responsible for the growth of complex multiscale structures found in biology and materials science and is a crucial concept for development of viable nanotechnologies. Complex systems, from biological ecosystems to financial markets and the Internet, are also characterized by spontaneous clustering and linkages that determine their collective behaviour. The project will investigate in detail the geometry, topology, materials science and statistical physics of networks, leading to design and characterization of robust self-assembled materials and complex systems.

It is proposed to establish a new research group that focuses on the development of new nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technologies and applications to problems concerning protein structure and function. This includes - the exploitation of new NMR parameters; - optimization of an inexpensive in vitro protein expression system; - development of experimental strategies for the identification of protein-ligand surfaces by chemical modificatio .... It is proposed to establish a new research group that focuses on the development of new nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technologies and applications to problems concerning protein structure and function. This includes - the exploitation of new NMR parameters; - optimization of an inexpensive in vitro protein expression system; - development of experimental strategies for the identification of protein-ligand surfaces by chemical modification, as a basis for high-throughput mass spectrometrical analyses; - development of an algorithm for rapid resonance assignment of 15N-labelled proteins which is of importance for the pharmaceutical industry; - 3D structure determinations of proteins and protein domains.
