The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

This partnership offers a unique opportunity to bring together anthropologists, educationlists, museum curators and Indigenous communities to research ways of incorporating Indigenous knowledge into school and museum education programs. The project uses the expertise of the partners to analyse the process of inclusion from the perspective of cross-cultural discourse. The research will enable complex conceptual and ethical issues to be addressed that will enable an extended and productive exchange between Indigenous communities and the general educational sector. The outcomes will include refereed publications and works in new media.Read moreRead less

This project aims to develop a partnership between two teacher-education institutions and eleven school districts in NSW, in researching quality improvements in teaching for rural and remote areas. These areas and their communities, including schools, are clearly under pressure, given global economic developments. Using various forms of data analysis, case-studies, interviews, Web-networks and school-based action research, the project will identify successful strategies for building rural teacher and community capacity, improving educational outcomes for all children, and appropriately preparing and retaining teachers for rural schools. The project will make recommendations for general educational policy and practice and for teacher education.Read moreRead less

Although Federal & State/Territory governments inject millions of dollars into schools, multitudes of students fall short of their academic potential due to an inability to deal with academic adversity. Essentially, these students are not academically buoyant or resilient. This diminishes their personal capacity through life & ultimately Australia's capacity to compete globally. The proposed Research Program conducts a comprehensive analysis of academic buoyancy & resilience & the attributes pivotal to them. In so doing, it seeks to promote & maintain young people's good academic health. According to Australian authorities (eg. Australian Bureau of Statistics, The Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs), young people's academic health is vital to our nation's economic, cultural, & social success.Read moreRead less

Indigenous students' aspirations are significantly lower in comparison to non-Indigenous peers. Given the vital importance of aspirations for predicating life opportunities this is of dire concern. Utilising a synergistic blend of quantitative and qualitative research methodology this investigation aims to identify factors that positively and negatively impact on Indigenous students setting and achieving their aspirations, and test whether the pattern of relations between identified factors and aspirations differentially varies for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. The project will also demonstrate the reliability of important measurement instruments for Indigenous populations and distinguish effective theoretical orientations and research methodology.Read moreRead less

This research will address key elements of the National research priority goals, including Priority 2 & Priority 3 Promoting an innovation culture and economy. This research will make a significant contribution to educators' understanding of ways of increasing Aboriginal students' educational success rates. It will enhance the schooling experiences of Aboriginal students and provide teachers with the tools to engage with Aboriginal students in a culturally appropriate and educationally efficacious manner. Improvement in Aboriginal students' educational qualifications will support welfare reform agendas, as higher educational attainment is associated with decreased welfare dependence, which is desired by Indigenous communities and leaders.Read moreRead less

Increasing levels of Indigenous VET certification will enable Indigenous inclusion in local labour markets, which are currently experiencing skills shortages in education, health, construction and mining. This will reduce welfare dependence and the need for intervention programs, in turn improving Australia's economic activity. This project is a significant collaboration between schools, TAFEs and Industry representatives that service remote areas, which aims to develop a theory about effective numeracy instruction. This theoretical framework will provide strategies for VET teachers and supervisors to facilitate Indigenous student's numeracy learning in a manner that is culturally empowering, builds pride and sustains community linkages. This project directly addresses education's role in equal opportunities for all Australians. It seeks to work with, and inform, Australia's largest educational jurisdiction (the NSWDET) about practices which gain success for its poorest students. The project also applies new ideas around motivation and engagement from within the MeE Framework, developed at the University of Western Sydney. Using teachers as co-researchers also takes forward methodological practices in investigating what makes a difference in the social and academic outcomes of students in poverty.Read moreRead less

The project will exploit online technologies to provide centralised resources for the Indigenous languages of Victoria. The use of modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to present a non-threatening and personalised interface to the resources will connect people and materials, and breathe new life into these ancient languages of such contemporary, social and cultural significance. This 'living system' of language information and exchange, built on pure linguistic research will have wide value. It will be of crucial benefit in rural and regional areas. The project will also encourage intergenerational communication within Indigenous families and will improve awareness and appreciation of Indigenous languages.Read moreRead less
