Summary
Women and the rise of contact sport. This project aims to investigate the growing visibility of women in contact sports in Australia and the multiple forces that influence their participation. Expected outcomes of this project include the enhanced capacity of contact sports to include and support women's participation; it does this by engaging with policies and practices that work towards gender equality and long-term sustainability.
Social Futures & Life Pathways of Young People in Queensland: Waves 6 & 7. This project plans to extend a large longitudinal study of young people in Queensland to investigate the impact of social, political and economic changes on educational, workforce, partnering, family and housing transitions in early adulthood. The project is designed to combine large-scale survey research with in-depth qualitative interviewing to track stability and change in the values, aspirations, health and wellbeing ....Social Futures & Life Pathways of Young People in Queensland: Waves 6 & 7. Australian civil society combating modern slavery with ethical consumerism. To combat the grave problem of modern slavery in supply chains, governments rely on consumers and investors to hold corporations accountable. Yet little is known about the critical role civil society plays in empowering citizens to serve this function. In this world-first study of an anti-slavery advocacy network, this project aims to investigate how civil society can mobilise ethical consumerism to combat slavery. A framework to promote safer practice in commercial sex encounters. The project will address public health needs by producing a framework to promote safer sex practices in commercial sexual encounters involving men, by considering the motivation and practice of those involved. It will also enhance our understanding of masculinity.
Living Alone in Australia Project (LAAP). This study investigates one aspect of the changing nature of Australia's social fabric. It asks whether the sharp rise in living alone reflects a breakdown in Australia's social fabric or simply marks a change in the way in which the fabric is woven. Living alone has important implications for social policy, service provision and housing. But before these implications are identified we need a much better understanding of who lives alone and what living ....Living Alone in Australia Project (LAAP).
