Educating for health service reform: clinical learning, governance, and capability. The nurse practitioner is a rapidly growing, advanced practice nursing role with excellent client acceptability. This project will develop specialty competencies and a clinical learning and teaching framework that will be relevant for both nurses and other health professionals.
Increasing the rural medical workforce: investigating personal traits to enhance our understanding and improve training of rural registrars. This project will research new methodologies for increasing the number of rural doctors in Australia. A better understanding of those individuals best suited for rural practice will provide value for money to the Government by making the most efficient use of initiatives to increase recruitment and retention of the rural workforce.
Factors influencing learning in healthcare: reframing a conceptual model on workplace learning. This project will reframe a conceptual model on workplace learning in healthcare environments. The model will provide a more sustainable and innovative approach to teaching and learning for health professionals in this complex socio-cultural work environment.
The digitisation of school health and physical education. While there is growing enthusiasm for using digital technology in school health and physical education (HPE), this is happening in the absence of systematic empirical research. This project aims to describe the forms digital HPE is taking, analyse the commercial and ideological forces shaping it, and discuss its impacts. This project will investigate what young people think they should be taught in school-based sexuality education programs. This information will inform the re-design of these programs and promote the sexual health of the next generation of Australians.
