It will show that, and how, liberal democracies both undermine and simultaneously assert the importance of the fundamental human rights that are the very basis for their perceived vulnerability to terrorists.
Developing a systematic, interdisciplinary approach to law reform and development in plural legal regimes. This project will focus on developing a response to issues arising from the interaction between different legal systems operating in the same social sphere (legal pluralism). The research aims to build an innovative, inter-disciplinary approach to law reform and legal development, which will accommodate both State law and Indigenous law.
Using law and ending domestic violence: Women's voices. Domestic violence severely damages communities across the globe and law is recognised as a key mechanism for prevention and redress. This project aims to undertake a longitudinal study examining how women of diverse backgrounds use law to help them live a life free of violence. It will investigate what influences women's decisions to choose particular legal interventions but not others, and will identify any unintended consequences flowing ....Using law and ending domestic violence: Women's voices. Current regulation does not work as intended and is complex and fragmented.
