Organisational Readiness for Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation. An ERP implementation is a significant organisational intervention and its success is affected by many variables including the organisation's culture, decision-making strategies, risk taking orientation, leadership strategies and perceptions of the value of Information Technology. We seek to develop a organisational behaviour modification program in order to position the firm to succeed by overcoming barriers in these elements. We will (1) identify key variables that inhibit an ERP implementation; (2) develop strategies to orient the organisation to achieve business benefit from the ERP implementation; and (3) track the effectiveness of these strategies through a program of participative action research.

With a focus on business processes, it is intended to develop research- informed methods in order to (1) identify and specify trust concerns and opportunities, (2) model these within a common process modelling language and (3) propose patterns for how to mitigate trust concerns and how to benefit from opportunities. If successful, this would lead to an operational, and world first, detailed trust methodology for organisations in all sectors. As a result, Australian customers would engage with business processes with reduced trust concerns and experience increased integrity and benevolence.

Using Measures of Ontological Distance to Evaluate the Alignment between Organizational Needs and Enterprise Systems Capabilities. Enterprise Systems (ES) packages are software systems that seek to provide their organizational users with comprehensive, integrated support for their information system needs. The development, implementation, operation, support, maintenance, and upgrade of enterprise systems is a multi-billion dollar industry. This industry is replete with stories of high-cost problems. Many of these problems arise because the business models embedded within ES packages do not align with the needs of their users. This project develops a methodology and measures to evaluate how well the business models embedded in an ES package meet user needs.

Unlocking benefits from digital investments. This project aims to address one of the most vexing questions in the management of information systems: how to unlock the value of digital investments. The project expects to develop new theory and evidence on how to achieve meaningful use of information systems at multiple levels of analysis. The project will especially benefit the health sector, and society, by helping health providers and vendors to maximise the value obtained from substantial investment in digital technologies, and by developing evidence-based policies to optimise digital service delivery.
