ARC Network in Imaging Science and Technology. The ARC Network in Imaging Science and Technology is a field of research network covering the fundamental science and technological development of applied imaging systems. The network will encompass all aspects of the imaging sciences from image formation, through image processing and analysis, and on to image visualisation. Left-handed metamaterials and negative refraction. This project will establish and support the first team in Australia working in the field of left-handed metamaterials, artificial materials in which waves behave in a unique and counter-intuitive way. The project will promote this new field, enhance its rapid development, and facilitate emerging novel technologies in Australia. Exploring the last frontier: cosmic reionization and the first galaxies. This program will help to position Australia as a leader in the development of the Square Kilometre Array, a 1.5 billion Euro radio telescope that Australia is vying to host. The program takes advantage of the uniquely radio quiet environment of Western Australia to achieve unprecedented measurements of the 'first light fossils' in the Universe, which reside in the portion of the radio spectrum that is filled by FM radio tr ....Exploring the last frontier: cosmic reionization and the first galaxies. The Southern Sky Survey. The Southern Sky Survey will create the first digital map of the southern sky, providing a community available database of a billion objects. This database will be used by entire community, with our group targetting four key areas including: studying the creation of our solar system through a census of distant asteroids, exploring how stars and planets form by observing nearby young stars, probing the shape and extent of the Galaxy's dark matter halo, and discovering whe ....The Southern Sky Survey.
