Discriminating Outcomes Of Psychosis With Gene Expression Profiles

NHMRC TCR
Summary
FEPOS15 Gene Expression Study is an add on study to FEPOS15. The aim is to test if gene expression profile distinguishes outcomes of psychosis 15 years after treatment of a first episode of psychosis in a specialist early intervention program. At the time of consenting for the blood sample collection component of FEPOS15 participants were invited to also partake in this study, which involved the collection of an additional tube of blood.

Summary
The specific aims of the FEPOS15 Mortality study are to:
1. delineate the all-cause mortality rate for the FEPOS cohort 15-years after registration with EPPIC for the treatment of a first episode of psychosis
2. differentiate mortality rates due to natural and unnatural causes
3. investigate the association between premorbid, baseline, and 18-month discharge characteristics and mortality
4. ascertain the timing of death in relation to treatment with the EPPIC service

We have used data linkage with multiple federal and state-based Government databases to obtain mortality data for the FEPOS cohort, including National Death Index, National Coronial Information Service, Victorian centre for Births Deaths and Marriages, and Victorian Case Management Information databases.
