Pursuing the right opportunities: the actor-opportunity nexus and new venture performance. This project's purpose is to explain how new business ventures can be made more successful. Based on a longitudinal study of new business ventures in Australia's mining industry, the research will develop a model that captures how characteristics of entrepreneurs, opportunities and the fit between them influence entrepreneurial actions and success.

The main benefit of this project is a thorough understanding of the challenges facing Indigenous enterprises in a range of geographical, economic and social settings. The research will identify and determine the importance of a broad range of factors which influence the success of Indigenous enterprises.

The project aims to provide, for the first time, a detailed understanding of the experiences of male and female humanitarian immigrant entrepreneurs in private and social enterprises in urban and regional Australia, and critically evaluate how these entrepreneurs help redress the settlement problems and socio-economic disadvantage of humanitarian immigrants and contribute to economic growth and social cohesion in Australia. ....Humanitarian immigrant entrepreneurs in private and social enterprises.
