The meaning of rights across cultures: an exploration of the interpretation of the human rights framework in refugee settlement. This project will examine the meaning of rights for refugees and explore how the human rights framework is interpreted and applied to the experiences of settling refugees. This project will develop alternative modules of response to guide settlement policy and practice, and will inform theoretical understandings of the meaning of rights across cultures.

Dual child protection and youth justice clients: expanding the evidence base. This project investigates the phenomenon of children who cross over from statutory child protection systems into youth justice systems. The analysis will be draw data from Children’s Court files and international policy. It expects to generate new knowledge regarding the characteristics and trajectories of crossover children, and to improve understandings of how this group differs from children only involved with child ....Dual child protection and youth justice clients: expanding the evidence base. Improving contact between children in out-of-home care and their birth parents: developing and trialling a contact intervention. There is little evidence on how to best manage contact between the 37,648 children in care nationally and their birth parents. The aim of this project is to develop and trial a new model of contact which will reduce distress, improve children's relationships with their birth parents and increase successful reunifications in the long term.
Music as bridge between strengths and difficulties: preventing mental ill-health through early identification and early intervention in adolescence. The World Health Organisation and the Australian Government both predict an alarming rise in chronic mental health problems. In this study, an innovative, musically derived strengths and difficulties assessment tool will be developed and validated to facilitate the early identification of, and early intervention with at risk young people.

This project aims to produce and test evidence-based education resources that boost the ability of supporters of people with cognitive disability to put the supported person’s own desires and values at the centre of decisions, as required by treaty obligations and best practice. The project aims to develop innovative education resources, and to then investigate the impact of the resources on the practices of decision-making ....Effective Decision Making Support for People with Cognitive Disability. Social sustainability in dairying communities impacted by the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. This project will address the social and community impacts of the Murray-Darling Basin proposed Plan in dairy communities identified as especially vulnerable. It will identify social supports that will build social sustainability, aid adaptation and foster individual and community resilience.
Creating the conditions for collective impact: transforming the child serving system in disadvantaged communities. No one institution can close the gap in child wellbeing and school achievement between poor and affluent areas. This project will draw schools, child serving agencies and community members into coalitions in disadvantaged areas to build, test and evaluate an integrated 'backbone support system' designed to foster healthy development of the whole child.
