The objective of this research is to investigate the export performance drivers of services firms, and consider how these drivers differ across service types. Previous research into export performance drivers has focused primarily on manufacturers. However, theory in services marketing suggests that there are not only key differences between service firms and manufacturers, but also key differences across different service types. This research is both timely and critical given the recently stated Federal Government objective of doubling the number of exporters over the next five years, and the fact that the services sector is the fastest growing export sector.Read moreRead less
Bahavioural Determinants of the Adoption of Forward Market by Australian Wool Producers. It is estimated that 85% of Australian wool is sold in Auction, making it the dominant market system to sell wool. It is estimated that 85% of Australian wool is sold in Auction, making it the dominant market system to sell wool. However, wool prices have fluctuated significantly in the auction system resulting in wool producers looking for alternative market systems. The Forward Market (selling wool in advance directly to the traders) is one such alternative market system which could offer guaranteed price to the wool producers. Despite its obvious advantages only 7% of wool producers sell wool through Forward Market system. This project investigates the behavioural determinants for the adoption of Forward Market system by the wool producers. We will develop a valid and reliable adoption model using Structural Equation Modelling approach through two rounds of data collection from the wool producers. The results will enhance wool industry's understanding of producers? response to the Forward Market system and thus help the policy makers to promote the alternative market system effectively. It is imperative that Australia finds out why and how its firms perform after they have been taken over or merged with a foreign firm. Especially if the Australian firm is export active, because if the Australian firm starts to perform poorly after it has been merged/acquired by the foreign firm this could have a negative impact on Australia's Balance of Payments/Balance of Trade thereby making a study of this type most timely.Read moreRead less

This projects aims to examine how patients interact collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a health system (co-creation). Governments and health-care providers continually seek new ways to be more efficient and to create more effective health service outcomes. This research aims to identify why co-creation will be important in the formulation of future health policy. The project plans to assess patient-centred practices using qualitative and quantitative health outcome measures and to model the patient’s end-to-end journey by developing new metrics. The intended outcomes are practical guidelines to help health professionals focus on the most effective co-creation activities and interactions. The research aims to determine how co-creation practices shape a service ecosystem by examining the effectiveness of a patient-centred approach on health care service outcomes. Findings will improve the implementation of health care practices.Read moreRead less
Employment outcomes for people with disabilities: enhancing fit perceptions of jobseekers, employment agencies, community members and employers. Nearly four million people in Australia have a disability. People with disabilities experience a high unemployment rate. Current policy encourages the placement of disabled job seekers in disability-focused enterprises. This project will identify strategies to facilitate the placement of disabled job seekers in mainstream organisations.

In order to assist the Victoria Government to meet the target of increasing Victorian food export to $12 billion by the year 2010, this project sets out to produce a best practice Supply Chain Model for exporting Australia's fresh produce to global retailers in Thailand. This model will contribute significantly to the improvements of efficiency and effectiveness of Australia's fresh produce export supply chain and thus the competitiveness and profitability of Australia's fresh produce export. This will greatly benefit Australia's regional and rural communities generally and Victoria in particular.Read moreRead less

Innovation Clusters are seen as geographically based and focussed on product development. Recent studies however indicate that technical innovation in geographic clusters is lower than geographically dispersed companies, and that their competitiveness arises from innovations in tailoring products and marketing. The emergence of the ?Grid? enhances the capabilities of ?Virtual? Clusters. Through installation of a Grid Portal and Grid-enabling analysis tools, we export the capabilities of a geographical cluster around Europe's leading computational facility and contrast this with a Virtual Cluster in Australia, where we demonstrate an innovative application of High-Performance Computing to modelling consumer behaviour and managing customer relations.Read moreRead less
