High quality early childhood education for Indigenous students is an essential precondition for school readiness, and Indigenous parents and communities are essential for success and sustainability. Indigenous persistence in formal learning. This project will improve knowledge of the learning experiences of Indigenous students transiting from TAFE to university studies. The results will have significant implications for the ways Indigenous students can be supported in their studies in order to achieve better quality learning experiences as well as learning outcomes.
Responding to Indigenous students' and their communities' voiced experiences regarding effective teaching practices: a catholic education initiative. This project will identify the actions of effective teachers through the voiced comments of Indigenous students and community members and their teachers. Using this information and the literature on culturally located practices, the project will determine the impact of these actions on educational outcomes.

Summary
A whole-of-community approach to promoting engagement into education in a discrete Indigenous community: a mixed method study. This research will develop a whole-of-community approach to engage Indigenous learners with education and provide evidence of a model that works. Developed in one community, the model will contribute policy-relevant knowledge for improving Indigenous educational outcomes and meeting the Commonwealth Government's Closing the Gap targets.
Deficit Discourse and Indigenous Education. This project investigates the prevalence of ‘deficit discourse’ and its influence on Indigenous education. Deficit discourse frames Indigenous identity in a narrative of negativity and deficiency. Recent work indicates that deficit discourse is active in policy, public debate, pedagogy and practice, and its prevalence in Indigenous education influences student performance. By mapping the discursive environment and analysing education programs that reje ....Deficit Discourse and Indigenous Education.
