The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

This project aims to explore practical privacy-preserving solutions for cloud data mining-as-a-service based on the Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) technology. The research addresses privacy concerns of users when outsourcing data mining needs to the cloud. These concerns have increased as more businesses evaluate data mining-as-an outsourced service due to lack of expertise or computation resources. The expected outcomes from the research will include new data privacy models, new privacy-preserving data mining algorithms, and a prototype of cloud data mining software. These will help businesses cut costs for data mining and privacy protection, and provide significant benefits toward helping Australia achieve its national cyber security strategy and potentially provide economic impact from commercialisation of new software technology for the industry partner.Read moreRead less

Establishing advanced networks for air quality sensing and analyses. This project aims to develop innovative, cost-effective, high resolution air quality networks. Recent developments in sensor technologies improve the ability to harvest atmospheric data. This project will develop, validate and implement methods for high sensitivity atmospheric sensing and apply cutting-edge statistical and analytic techniques to the data sets, unprecedented in scope and resolution. Outcomes include an open access database to quantify and visualise intra-urban air pollution and human exposure and develop air quality maps and smoke pollution management tools. It is expected to advance the evidence-based management of air as a resource, increasing economic prosperity and enhancing human health and quality of life.Read moreRead less

The impact of insecure residency on adaptation of refugees in Australia. This project will conduct a longitudinal investigation of the psychosocial adaptation of refugees with insecure and secure residency over a period of three years. This project will identify longitudinal trajectories of adaptation in refugees with insecure and secure residency, investigate flashpoints where refugees’ psychological adaptation deteriorates or improves, and investigate psychological mechanisms underpinning adaptation pathways. Findings could significantly advance knowledge about the adaptation of refugees and help refugees to make a positive social and economic contribution to Australia.Read moreRead less

This project aims to restore a key habitat forming-seaweed and its ecosystem, by integrating experimental ecology, population genetics, eco-engineering and restoration ecology. Habitat degradation causes worldwide loss of biodiversity and ecosystem function, increasingly needing active restoration of ecosystems. However, restoration efforts often lack the critical ecological understanding for success, largely ignore major habitats, and in marine systems rarely happen at the scale of the degradation. This innovative approach, could be adopted globally to restore these crucial marine habitats. Anticipated outcomes are the re-establishment of commercially harvestable resources and new tools for active conservation of critical marine habitats.Read moreRead less
Metalloproteomics: A new piece of the systems biology puzzle. Systems biology uses advanced analytical technology to study the complex chemistry of the living cell. Many cellular functions are the result of chemical reactions involving metalloproteins, which are notoriously difficult to study due to the weak bonds between metal and protein that is not normally amenable to traditional proteomic approaches. In partnership with the leading analytical manufacturer Agilent Technologies, this project aims to adapt and apply advanced mass spectrometry to the study of metalloproteins, developing new methods for studying hundreds of molecules in single experiments. Using the C. elegans model organism the project aims to showcase the importance of metals in biology and develop new solutions for the $2.9 billion proteomics industry.Read moreRead less
Australian Indigenous entrepreneurial leadership. This project will provide evidence-based research and policy advice on effective business education interventions for Australian Indigenous enterprises and individuals. It will also explore the unique challenges Indigenous leaders face in owning or operating commercial enterprises.
Settlement outcomes of Syrian-conflict refugee families in Australia. This project aims to focus on the policy responses to, and settlement outcomes for, Syrian-conflict refugee families in Australia with an emphasis on employment and education. The Syrian conflict has generated an unprecedented flow of refugees across Europe and other countries, including Australia. These countries face new challenges in providing successful settlement outcomes for the refugees. Utilising a longitudinal study of 250 refugee families and fieldwork in key areas of high refugee settlement in NSW, Victoria and Queensland, this project will generate comparative insights to identify policy and program responses that lead to the most successful settlement outcomes. Improved employment, education and settlement outcomes for refugees will have economic, social and cultural benefits for Australian society and improve the quality of life of refugees.Read moreRead less

Water is a critical resource for societies worldwide and Australia is one of the driest nations on Earth. Options to treat ‘used’ or lower quality waters for reuse are becoming a necessity. This project aims to implement advanced nanotechnology solutions to improve performance characteristics of widely adopted water treatment membranes, which have the potential to reduce water treatment costs in Australia. This is made possible by the collaboration with Australia's largest manufacturer of water treatment membranes. The outcomes will lead towards a lower maintenance water treatment technology available to communities, at lower cost. The application of such a technology will span from local small scale to major installations worldwide.Read moreRead less

Pathologies of the cardiovascular system arising from heart diseases make a major contribution to morbidity and mortality in the Australian community. This project will provide new diagnostic modalities based on advanced noninvasive bioinstrumentation, signal processing and model-based analytical methods to identify early signs of developing disease or the acute exacerbation of existing disease. The impact of these new technologies on the early diagnosis and improved triaging of patients in emergency departments is potentially profound and could result in improved healthcare outcomes for the patients and reduced admissions to hospital as well as the development of a substantial international market.Read moreRead less
