Abstract: Given the limited research in immigrants' psychological well-being with respect to homeland tourism, this study explored the Chinese immigrants' psychological well-being and the relationship with their homeland visit. A survey was conducted for a s le of 500 immigrants. The CES-D was used to measure respondents' psychological well-being. The results revealed that respondents' psychological well-being not only significantly varied across different demographic variables, but also significantly correlated with their homeland visit. The results suggest that even though respondents may have adapted well to the new living environment of Macao due to a high degree of cultural similarities, they still tend to keep a connection with their homeland through homeland visit as it could benefit their psychological well-being. Through homeland visit, respondents could regain or affirm their connection with and emotional social support through the old social circle in their homeland. The study contributes to the understanding of the positive relationship between homeland tourism and immigrants' psychological well-being and reveals the need for further research in homeland tourism.

Abstract: The present study aims to explore how tour guides' interpretations influence tourists' experience and their interest in heritage tourism. To examine tour guides' interpretation quality, style, and their impact on the tourist experience, a comparative study of sightseeing and on-site guides was conducted. The results suggest that tour guides should provide tourists with an insightful interpretation and provoke tourists' emotional thoughts in order to help them to achieve a high level of tourist experience with the visited heritage site and arouse their interest in visiting other relevant heritage sites. In addition to communication competence and knowledge, tour guides' motivation for interpretation is also an important factor influencing the quality and style of their interpretation.

Abstract: This study aims to evaluate casino-hotel visitors’ tourism experiences which consist of multiple dimensions, and test their joint effects on visitors’ positive emotions and satisfaction. The findings are expected to reveal how multi-dimensional tourism experiences could shape visitors’ positive emotions, and empirically support positive emotions as the mediator between tourism experiences and satisfaction in the context of casino hotels. A quantitative survey was conducted for this study. In all, 500 valid questionnaires were collected at four major casino hotels in Macao. Respondents were Chinese tourists who visited casino hotels in June. A structural model was developed and tested to understand the relationships between multi-dimensional tourism experiences, positive emotions and satisfaction. Positive emotions were identified as “light pleasure” and “intense fun” emotions based on the context-specific measurement of casino hotels. The “light pleasure” emotions were found to be more effective in influencing respondents’ satisfaction than “intense fun” emotions. Different dimensions of tourism experiences were found to have different levels of impact on respondents’ positive emotions. The findings revealed how multi-dimensional tourism experiences influenced respondents’ positive emotions which in turn determined their satisfaction. The findings advanced the understanding of the relationships between tourism experiences, positive emotions and satisfaction in the context of casino hotels. The two types of positive emotions identified in the study add values to the literature of casino-hotel visitors and emotional experiences. This study suggests a further investigation into the scope and measurement of each dimension of tourism experiences in different tourism settings in future research. The findings provided some practical suggestions for the management of positive emotions and tourism experiences in casino hotels.

Abstract: While literature review suggests that immigrants’ memories of their past life in homeland influence their present life, it is believed that immigrants’ memories related to their homeland may influence their tourist experiences of homeland visit. To explore any impact of immigrants’ past memories on their homeland visit experiences, a survey was conducted with 500 Chinese immigrants in Macao. The findings revealed the special tourist experiences of homeland visitors that reflected how visitors felt about their past, present, and future lives during their homeland visit. Moreover, it was found that respondents’ past memories of their homeland, travel patterns, and length of living in their homeland and Macao had a significant impact on their homeland visit experiences and feelings.
