Abstract: A mangrove forest in West Nusa Tenggara is one of tourist destination that attracts many local and domestic tourists thanks to their natural beauty. In addition to its natural beauty, this place is also used as mangrove conservation and education-based tourism. However, there were various critical statuses in West Nusa Tenggara which damaged. The critical status is also spread in various regions on the island of Lombok, among others in the area of West Lombok Regency. The loss of mangrove forest occurs was because mangrove forests often are converted in order to generate directly marketable products, such as aquaculture that might lead to massive economic losses for the surrounding community. To make efficient resource allocation choices, decision makers need a framework to estimate the non-use values that might be held by the community for mangrove forest conservation. Non-market valuation techniques can be used for this purpose, by applying a choice modelling (CM), appears to hold some promise because it can be used to model complex situations and to frame choices consistent with ‘real life’ choices. In this paper, a CM method applied for assessing the values that the community and tourists hold for mangrove forest conservation in West Lombok, Indonesia.

Abstract: Purpose: This study aims to investigate the equilibrium between demand and supply of halal tourism products in Lombok, Indonesia. This study utilized 34 halal tourism parameters from the Global Muslim Travel Index (2019). Theoretical framework: This study uses two types of analyses: quadrant analysis and gap analysis. The quadrant analysis aims to determine tourists' response to different attributes, which are categorized based on the level of satisfaction and performance. Design/methodology/approach: This research is a descriptive study conducted to analyze the priorities of the development of halal tourism in Lombok Island. The data used in this study are primary data obtained through a survey of 200 tourists in Lombok, selected using simple random s ling technique. Findings: The results showed that there is an imbalance in the equilibrium of the halal tourism market, where the demand for some halal tourism indicators is higher than the existing supply. Thus, there is a need to improve some halal facilities to meet the demand. Research, Practical & Social implications: This study adapted the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) to explain the equilibrium of halal tourism demand and supply in the halal tourism industry in Lombok, Indonesia. Originality/value: the study's analysis indicated the need for tourism businesses and related stakeholders in Lombok to focus on improving and offering halal tourism indicators that are important to tourists, such as worship amenities, gender separation in public facilities, and the availability of halal cuisine.

Abstract: Willingness to pay (WTP) for payments for environmental services (PES) can be temporarily reliable if contingent valuation (CV) studies are embedded in an accurate survey population, yield low measurement errors, and are based on a correct assumption of no change in sociodemographic factors affecting buyer preferences. These pre-conditions are assumed in PES schemes applying temporal reliability of WTP. This study tests these conditions in CV-PES studies from 2001, 2003, and 2011 in Lombok, Indonesia, by comparing them with a new CV-PES study in 2015. Our results show that the CV-PES studies would not meet the pre-conditions due to inclusion of non-PES buyers, potential measurement errors implied by a lack of validating information and high WTP estimate, and/or failure to test the condition of no change of socio-economic factors. Results contribute to identifying pragmatic challenges and lessons for applying temporal reliability of WTP to PES implementation.

Abstract: Al-Juhfa is a small village located near Rabigh City, between Makkah and Madinah, Saudi Arabia, with significant archaeological and religious resources. The purpose of this paper is to examine residents’ attitudes toward tourism development at Al-Juhfa. The qualitative study uses purposive interviewing to recruit informants. Data was collected using semi-structured interview and open-ended questions. Eight semi-structured interviews were made and a list of open-ended questions was distributed to 134 informants. All data were analysed and no new codes were found after the answer of the first 49 informants analysed. The results show that residents’ attitudes toward tourism development in general were positive with residents expecting to receive economic, social and environmental benefits. Residents were aware of potential positive and negative impacts of tourism development and appeared to balance these in developing their attitudes. Tourism was seen to empower residents and the religiosity of the community influenced their perception of tourism development. This study contributes to the literature by supporting the use of social exchange theory in this context and by recommending the inclusion of religiosity in further studies.
