Funded Activity Summary

A customized surface chemistry study system in realistic working condition . This proposal aims to establish a purpose-built X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) with a dedicated operando sample station and a contamination-free transfer system, to investigate the chemical signatures of material surfaces with unprecedented accuracy in environments from ultrahigh vacuum to near ambient pressure. The facility will support South Australia’s cutting edge XPS capabilities, immensely driving innovative research on a wide range of functional materials. The newly created knowledge and technology will be critical to materials across diverse disciplines from wide-ranging energy storage and conversion devices, to biological systems, electronics, and minerals, all with positive benefits for the wider Australian economy.
